Musical acts set to rock The Steampunk World’s Fair 2017

Since its formation back in 2010, the Steampunk World’s Fair has been one of the most intriguing events in the Northeast. Based around the steampunk culture, the convention even drew the attention of CBS correspondent Mo Rocca. This weekend, the 2017 installment will make its way to The Radisson and The Embassy Suites in Piscataway, New Jersey. One of the main attractions of the event is music, and there’s a ton of acts set to bring the jams throughout the three-day event, so we’ve decided to put the spotlight on a handful of them. Tickets for the event can still be purchased online.

V Is For Villains

Where: Midway Stage

Chicago industrial rock outfit V Is For Villains is much more than the music; the group manages to engage the crowd with astonishing costumes and engaging storytelling. The band has performed at various conventions across the country, including Anime Apocalypse, Meta Con, and KanPai! Con. The outfit will have two performances where they will be showcasing new material from their upcoming studio album Murder in the Art., which is slated to be released in July.

Ego Likeness

Hailing from Baltimore, industrial rockers Ego Likeness have toured the world with acts such as The Crüxshadows, Combichrist, and Komor Kommando. The outfit will return to the festival to close out day one before the Vampirefreaks dance party. Their last studio album was 2015’s When the Wolves Return.

A Halo Called Fred

Where: Courtyard Stage

New Jersey’s own A Halo Called Fred are fan favorites at the Steampunk World’s Fair. Since 1992, the four piece outfit have been delivering folk rock melodies through several albums, including 2016’s Lies, Damned Lies, and Songs by A Halo Called Fred. Aside from their performance, the outfit will have some special Concardia cards based on them for sale.

Platform One

Just like V Is For Villains, New York synthpop trio Platform One will give fans two opportunities to catch them perform at the convention. Earlier this year, they released the song "Wicked Goodbye", which is dedicated to the defunct Wicked Faire convention. For Valentine’s Day, the outfit released the video for "Valentine," which was directed by Andy Sawyer. Their last studio album was 2014’s The Last Cathedral.
